If your student ended the previous school year with end code 40 (student enrolled on last day of school), but during the summer months the student left and will not be reported by another MN public school (as they would if you used end codes 02, 04 or 20), you will need to report the student to MDE with the appropriate end code so your districts graduation rates can be adjusted accordingly. Whether or not the school participates in the Community Eligibility Provision Program, Direct Certification can also be used to certify students as eligible for the free meal program. Direct Certification is a process by which a file of eligible children is provided to MDE by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and is matched to MARSS enrollment records. Read more

PSEO Reports, MARSS 56 and MARSS 58, have been posted for semesters one and two, school year 2016-17. Students who enrolled in PSEO for semesters one and two where MDE paid the tuition are included. PSEO students who took courses paid by the school district/charter school are not included on these reports. Concurrent Enrollment Reports, MARSS 59 and MARSS 60, have been posted for semester one and two, school year 2016-17. Students in Concurrent Enrollment through the colleges: MN State (formerly MnSCU), U of MN Twin Cities, U of MN Duluth, U of MN Morris, and the U of MN Crookston, will be included. Bethel College concurrent enrollment data has not been included on these reports. As you may be aware, several schools have experienced an outbreak of measles. Students who have not been vaccinated are at risk of contracting the disease, furthering the spread. The Minnesota Department of Health is working to stop the spread and in many cases that involves asking a family to keep exposed children home from day care and/or school if they have not been vaccinated. The homeless liaison is important to the MARSS Coordinator because they provide the necessary documentation for students experiencing homelessness. These students are categorically eligible to report as free meal --Economic Indicator 2 -- and are eligible for Title I services. They should be flagged as Homeless in the MARSS file. Without the written, signed and dated documentation, a student cannot be flagged as homeless in MARSS. Read more

For end of year MARSS reporting Special Education Service Hours are required for specific students starting with the MARSS April submission. Knowing the SESH are not correct at that time we have told districts to report one hour for SESH to pass the edit.
