Expansion of Age Limit for Medical Expense Reimbursement Claims in Your Flex Plan

Adult children’s medical expenses are now eligible for reimbursement through your flex medical expense reimbursement account through the end of the calendar year that they achieve age 26.  They are no longer eligible beginning the first day of the calendar year in which they turn age 27. The definition of a “dependent” for this purpose is expanded to include your child who will not yet turn age 27 during the year, regardless of whether the child otherwise qualifies as a tax dependent.   If you have questions regarding the definition of “dependent” and “child” under the new law, please see your summary plan description (SPD).

This change will take effect January 1, 2011 for your flex plan.
