Limitation on Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medicine or Drug Reimbursements

Effective January 1, 2011, over-the-counter (OTC) medicines or drugs (e.g., aspirin, cold remedies, allergy medicine, etc.) are not eligible for reimbursement through your medical expense flex plan, unless the claim for the medicine or drug is accompanied by a Letter of Medical Necessity from your health care provider. Please see our website for a Letter of Medical Necessity form and a sample listing of OTC items. Insulin purchases will not require a Letter of Medical Necessity. This change is not considered a “change in status” that would allow for a change in your flex plan election amount.
