MARSS Deadlines
EOY FY26 Reporting
Thursday, November 5th: Electronic appeal file process closes. Records that cause cross-district errors will prevent the entire file from submission.

Thursday, November 5th: Files due to RMIC
Thursday, November 12th: Files due to MDE
** If you have Region 1 upload your files, please submit them by the due to RMIC date. This will ensure there is time to run an edit, send and receive a release, and upload to MDE. Unfortunately if you wait until the MDE deadline we are unable to guarantee your files will be uploaded in time.

Check This Out: Mass Update Student Programs
Now that the rush of the beginning of the year has slightly subsided, are you just starting to think about Ed-Fi? Check out the Mass Update Student Programs page and start by mass updating your Free and Reduced Meals records. Directions can be found on the Help screen under State Reporting > Additional Documents > FRM – Mass Update Programs. With a list of your Student IDs and their Economic Indicator, you can mass update these students in no time!
Ed-Fi Myths Debunked
Myth: Ed-Fi will give you the exact same MARSS errors when running your edit with Ed-Fi data.
FALSE: While most of your errors will remain the same, there are a few differences that you may notice. Program data needs to accompany Early Ed enrollments, so you may see errors that are related to that. Missing enrollment information, such as Transportation Category, is common, and prevents students from making it to MDE. Another big one you need to be aware of is SSID Validations.
Students will not make it to MARSS WES to error on their Transportation Category or MARSS ID like they do with B files, which means you need to be aware of it before running an edit. There are multiple ways to find these students in Synergy.
When you run the 12 – Students Mass Process, students who error will be provided in a list with the output files. These are often those with ID issues. Address these students right away.
One of the other ways to find students with issues is on the Ed-Fi Portal screen. If you had student errors in your last sync at this focus, the Error Count column will display values on line 12 of the Entity grid. Show detail on line 12 and select the error(s) to see the list of Student IDs. These students should be reviewed.
Continue using your comparison report to help you find these students. The more you understand why the students are not syncing correctly, the more confident you will feel with your data!
