Ed-Fi Myths Debunked
Myth: When you are certified Ed-Fi only, you have different reports/deadlines.
FALSE: Ed-Fi only changes how MDE receives the data. You will still have the same MARSS deadlines to follow, and the same MARSS reports to run.
Myth: Certifying is scary!
FALSE: You will still run the same reports, follow the same deadlines, and troubleshoot any data issues. The only thing that changes is where you are troubleshooting the data in Synergy. (You are still allowed to be scared, but we are here for you!)
Early Education Reminder
Now is a good time to be working on Early Education data. Take advantage of the upcoming break in MARSS deadlines to review your Early Education Dynamic Reports in the EDVP to ensure data is reported via Ed-Fi the way you expect. Follow the Early Education document in Help under State Reporting > Region 1 Reporting Guides. Work through any data entry and cleanup now that the weather is cooler, so you have less to do when summer is calling your name!
MCCC Data
There has been some confusion lately over which year to be working on for data clean up. Please see the following clarification that has been provided to Region 1:
The 24-25 MCCC data collection was completed on October 1st. The window for data corrections closed on October 12th.
LEAs are encouraged to shift their focus to the 25-26 MCCC data collection. Please take the following steps to ensure your school or district is prepared:
- In the SIS, set up the 25-26 Ed-Fi connection and ensure it is successfully sending data to MDE.
- If you’re unsure where to begin, ask your SIS vendor or Region 1 for support.
- Use the reports in the Ed-Fi Data Validation Portal (EDVP) to review the data sent to MDE from your SIS.
- It may be helpful to compare the data submitted for 24-25 and 25-26.
- Understand and resolve the errors listed in the MCCC Validation Report.
- Errors may be caused by setup in your SIS or a problem with the Ed-Fi data sync.
- If you need help understanding an error:
