Early Education Reminder

Now is a good time to work on Early Education data. Take advantage of the upcoming break in MARSS deadlines to review your Early Education Dynamic Reports in the EDVP to ensure that data is reported via Ed-Fi the way you expect. Follow the Early Education document in Synergy Help under State Reporting > Region 1 Reporting Guides. Work through any data entry and cleanup now that the weather is cooler, so you have less to do when summer is calling your name!

Ed-Fi Newsletter

If you have not done so already, we highly recommend signing up to receive the Ed-Fi Newsletter. You can do so by visiting MDE's Ed-Fi page and clicking Ed-Fi Newsletter Sign-up under Communication and Feedback.

The Ed-Fi Newsletters are typically sent out every other Monday and contain helpful information regarding reporting data via Ed-Fi.

Ed-Fi Myths Debunked

Myth: Your comparison report must be clean and free of any discrepancies before you can certify.

FALSE: It is not just about cleaning up the comparison report, but about understanding why the differences are showing up in the first place. Ed-Fi has data elements that are not collected in MARSS, as well as rules for enrollments that are required to sync the student, but not to be used by MDE. Understanding why a discrepancy is showing, knowing if you need to fix it, and where you would fix it, is more important than simply a clean report.

There is a document on MDE’s Ed-Fi page called Comparison Report: Discrepancies to Disregard. Use this document as a guide as you look through your comparison report. It will help you narrow down your focus. If you need further guidance about what you should look into and what you can ignore, feel free to reach out to Region 1.
