If you would like to review the current Carl Perkins information and process in Synergy, you can find the document in Help under State Reporting > Region 1 Reporting Guides > Carl Perkins.

Ed-Fi Myths Debunked
Myth: Receiving School CTDS numbers are some random numbers that make zero sense.
FALSE: While they may seem random at first, the Receiving School CTDS number needed in Synergy for Ed-Fi programs is not random at all! The CTDS number is comprised of three different numbers together making up your School Alt ID. The first number is your District Type (without a leading zero). The second number is your 4-digit District Number. The last number is your 3-digit reporting School Number.
The Receiving School CTDS number tells Synergy/Ed-Fi which school enrollment the program record should be associated with. Many of the programs are enrollment specific, such as EE-ECSE. Students may be enrolled in multiple schools, but we want the program to associate with only the enrollment for the date range at the school offering ECSE services. By entering the CTDS number on the EE-ECSE Student Need record, Ed-Fi knows that the program should only be sent for the ECSE school, and not the other schools the student may also be enrolled in.
Without the CTDS number, the program will be associated with all of the schools the student is enrolled in during that time frame. This can lead to incorrect records reporting, and errors in your Ed-Fi data.
Check out the Ed-Fi Translation Guide in Help under State Reporting > Additional Documents for information on each program, when to enter the CTDS number, and where it should be entered.
