Child Count

This data impacts funding via tuition billing.  A child must have three criteria to be included in the December 1 Federal Child Count. Compensatory Revenue

This data is based on the prior year’s October 1 enrollments and counts of students eligible for the free or reduced-price meal program. From the final Fall FY 2018 MARSS data, MDE will generate the October 1, 2017, counts that will be used to calculate FY 2019 compensatory revenue. For first year charter schools, these counts will be used for both FY 2018 and FY 2019 compensatory revenue. Reporting SAC 98

If your student ended the previous school year with end code 40 (student enrolled on last day of school), but during the summer months the student left and will not be reported by another MN public school (as they would if you used end codes 02, 04 or 20), you will need to report the student to MDE with the appropriate end code so your districts graduation rates can be adjusted accordingly.

Economic Indicator / Direct Certification

Economic Indicator / Direct Certification

Whether or not the school participates in the Community Eligibility Provision Program, Direct Certification can also be used to certify students as eligible for the free meal program. Direct Certification is a process by which a file of eligible children is provided to MDE by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and is matched to MARSS enrollment records.

** The Region 1 deadline for the August data is July 27For end of year MARSS reporting special education service hours (SESH) are required for specific students starting with the MARSS April submission. Knowing the SESH are not correct at that time we have told districts to report one hour for SESH to pass the edit.
